Sherlock Holmes, NW1 - 219 Baker Street
Fictitious Detective
Created 1887.
This plaque was located on the former Abbey National building, which was the closest location for the fictitious address of 221b Baker Street, and for many years they employed a full-time secretary to answer mail addressed to Holmes. Abbey National vacated the premises in 2005, and the plaque was removed while the exterior of the building was repainted, but it never reappeared.
