Highest Ground in the City of London (Supposed)

Inscription reads:
When yu have sought the Citty Round
Yet still this is the highst ground
August the 27 1688

The motif is of a naked boy sitting on a bread basket or
‘pannier’ from which the alley name is derived.

Cornhill is probably about a foot higher.

Location
Panyer Alley, London, EC4
